In December 1999 the Kirk Key Interlock Company was purchased from Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) and relocated to Massillon, Ohio. In addition to the bigger and better facilities in our new location, we have increased our customer service staff, and manufacturing staff, to better serve your interlocking needs. Our customer service staff is prepared to fully understand your interlocking requirements, then offer a KIRK® key interlock system to best suit your particular application. With our ultimate user records dating back to 1945, we are able to coordinate with KIRK® key interlocks on your existing equipment and avoid the potentially dangerous situation of duplicate locks in the same location. History In 1932 the Railway and Industrial Engineering Company obtained the exclusive rights to a new safety device patented by Mr. R. L. Kirk, an employee of a local power company. His invention, the KIRK® key interlock, was used primarily in substations at that time. KIRK® key interlocks were manufactured in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, until 1984 before moving to Florence, South Carolina. In December 1999, Kirk Key Interlock Company was relocated to Massillon, Ohio. Today KIRK® key interlocks can be found in many industries including switchgear, power generation and distribution, steel, and automotive. With our wide range of mechanical and electro-mechanical interlocks, we offer complete interlock systems for many applications. Kirk Key Interlock Company is proud to be the interlock industry leader and brand name associated with keyed safety interlock systems.
